The old description is as follows: Opened as a Safeway in the late 1980s very briefly before morphing into an AppleTree, and remaining as such until a 2008 change in ownership renamed it to Village Foods. Post-AppleTree, the store reinvented itself as a local supermarket that carried natural, organic, and gluten-free items. The store has a won a number of awards for its departments, including Stover Bros. Café (the deli), Leaf & Bloom (florist), a pharmacy, a full-service meats and seafood department, a large beer/wine department ("Village Beer & Wine Garden"), and a bakery. It employs about 85 people.
